Summertime in the Park

Written by N Hise

Can you believe it's the middle of June?  Camping, swimming, beach-sitting, picnicking, family and friend gathering, fishing, photo taking - the list of activities is endless.  Have you checked out the Events tab to keep current on activities offered at Harrington Beach?

Have you purchased your park entry sticker to ALL Wisconsin state parks?

Do you know why the Friends concession stand remains closed this year?  We are in need of a volunteer manager.  Contact  for more details.

Our Facebook page gives you up-to-date news of our activities plus valuable, interesting links to related activities.  This Saturday, June 17 is Treasures of OZ Eco-Tour of Ozaukee county.  Harrington Beach State Park is included as a tour site.  Organizations like Treasures of OZ inform and expand your knowledge and interest in Ozaukee County's natural features.

Another organization we feature is Northern Cross Science Foundation.  This organization is the group behind our fantastic observatory located within Harrington Beach.  Look closer at the "shed" by Puckett's Pond because it is an observatory in disguise.  NCSF schedule of events at Harrington are on the Events tab.  Or for their full schedule, go to https://ncsf.info.

Every 4th Thursday of the month, the Friends board meets to plot a course for future activities and discuss park needs with manager Ken Severn.  We have several projects in discussion for the future.  But these projects takes hands, feet and heads.  Do you have time to attend our hour-long meeting once a month that is open to the public?  Are you interested in becoming a Friend member?  Do you have talents and interests that would add value as a volunteer to our non-profit organization?  Then we want to hear from you!  Call the park office at 262-285-3015 with your contact information or email us at .

Contact us through our Facebook page Friends of Harrington.

Have a fun and safe summer!
